New Healthcare Technology – Is it too complicated?

As the senior population continues to grow, medical professionals are increasingly stretched thin, impacting the levels of expected care. Over the past several years we have seen a significant growth in new technology for healthcare that allows for better management of time to provide proper care to patients.

However, some of the latest technology for healthcare is expensive, inefficient, and complicated. Technology that is too complicated and not user friendly is causing problems that range from medical errors, which by some accounts are the eighth leading cause of death in the United States, to the soaring cost of health care.

MIJA’s Critical Alert technology provides a simplified approach to monitoring patients on oxygen by delivering an immediate notification when a patient’s oxygen cylinder starts to get low. To prove the benefits, MIJA conducted a 6 week field test with one of the top home care provider companies. Several units of the Critical Alert were provided to home care patients to use at their leisure and the MIJA sales team worked with the center managers to gather the results and feedback from the field. At the end of the trial period, 100% of the patients liked the Critical Alert and 50% of the patients refused to give back the devices due to the simplicity of the technology and the assurance that it provided knowing that they always had oxygen available when needed.
